Is your partner in Unison or another TU? If so, ask them.
What would be illegal about reassessing where staff fit in the hierarchy? How would it not be legal?0 -
At the start of the giant Con entitled " Agenda for change " all staff were judged and evaluated by panels and there Banding decided. Now its seems ok when Trusts want to save money to simply Re Band Staff.Keep in your thoughts the poor Beasts of burden around the World and curse All who do them harm.0

You never know, this might benefit you. Make sure your union is aware and involved in the consultation. In the mean time keep a note and evidence of everything you do that isn't in your job description and ensure this is available to the role analysts at the time they review your banding.0

Yes, it is legal and it is happening a lot.
Working for the NHS is a lot like working for Darth Vader at the moment:

Unions are democratic organisations and for most people the face of their union is their shop steward who is a volunteer and an employee just like you. If you aren't happy with the way your union is dealing with something, get involved! Volunteer as a workplace contact or stand for election as shop steward. If that's too much for you, then why not ask your rep to organise a regular workplace meeting to discuss issues like this? Your union is there to represent YOU, and if they aren't aware you are dissatisfied then how can they help?0 -
