Some thoughts after first week comping

- 238 Comps entered so far!
- People like having iPads as prizes. I guess it's to attract entrants. 15 comps so far!
- I've decided to avoid FB competitions. I don't want companies spamming my time-line and I don't want to spam my friends with L&S. It annoys me enough when other people do it!
- I'm avoiding netmums etc comps. I'm a guy, so I don't think it'd be right for me to win one of those!
- Similarly, comps for local radio stations miles and miles away from me.
- Many places don't like my address. I have a '/' in my address because of my flat and many places really don't like it.
- Similarly, many want a county. I live in a city, which is a unitary area so there is no county. These little things annoy me a bit.
- Refflecopter is just a way to get facebook fans and twitter followers isn't it?!
- Next day off, I'm going to set up a new twitter account for comping. I'm not going to annoy my current followers with constant retweets of comps.
It's a fun thing to do all in all. I had been using some free time to do online surveys etc, but MySurvey/YouGov/OnePoll have been quite quiet recently, so decided to give this a try.

Good luck. If you go with the attitude that it is a fun thing to do and any win is a bonus, not something to be expected, then you won't go too far wrong.0

You might miss some good comps that are valid where you live. The main radio groups often run comps throughout the country but they are only ever posted against one area on MSE (to prevent people entering more than once). Comps posted for Smooth Radio North East (Newcastle), HallamFM (Sheffield) or Heart Gloucestershire may well be running countrywide so if you live in London, Liverpool or Glasgow they could well be running on the local franchise as well. Posters will generally state if the comp is area restricted or if a prize has to be collected.0 -
I wouldn't discount FB, can just do the app ones rather than the L&S, though obviously your feed will still fill up with crap but I find I've had more luck with fb than anything else.
Twitter - you may get a new account blocked if you just do RT's.
Rafflecopters are intensely irritating, usually dull blogs requiring too much effort for too small a prize.0 -
Talking about Rafflecopter has anyone else noticed that the "Daily Comps" thread is predominantly Rafflecopter??. I was going to suggest renaming that thread "Rafflecopter"

I went through it at the weekend and 17 pages of practically Rafflecopter. Sorry but not my scene too.The best things in life are free.....0 -
I used to think Rafflecopters were just a way for people to get likes and followers and that no-one ever won.......then last week I won 4 Thorpe park tickets on one and have changed my mind!0

I've won some lovely prizes with RC comps, including a Harrods hamper. Although I admit I now don't tend to bother with the ones for small prizes. Some of them are just stupid. A huge list of tasks, with 2+ dailies, that seem to go on for months, all to win £20! Thanks, but no thanks!
Blu XI am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apology
THIS IS ME!
When you talk down to others it says more about you than them.0 -

I agree with the "too much effort for too small a prize" bit - but then that's an insult to the blog owner. They've spent their time building their blog and working to get a prize for a competition - why shouldn't they ask for a few things? Unless it's a RC with 10 ways which leads to another with 10 which leads to another with 10..... you get the picture?sugarbabe61 wrote: »

You obviously don't realise that there are some decent prizes to be won! I've won 4 hampers from RC comps, as well as other things - RC is easier than most people think! Thanks to all posters :A0 -
I too have won lots from raffle copters but rarely do more than one tweet...if its meant to be then I will win!
Thanks to all those fab compers who post:j:T0 -
I like Rafflecopters I've had some nice prizes from RC comps. I don't tend to go back and tweet every day though xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
xx Mama to a gorgeous Cranio Baby xx
