I agree, £87 is really do-able. As long as you're prepared for it, and you know you're doing it for a good reason, then absolutely go for it. If it's too much of a strain, you can always slightly cut back on something elsewhere (£200 for the monthly groceries could be cut back a little... not by much but a bit, I'm sure!), or even pay a little less towards the debt next month.
Good luck0 -
£87 a month for spends is do-able? Too right it is! I was feeding and keeping myself and the house clean every month for less than that! I really think you could ditch the dog grooming too. Baby shampoo, a shower head and a comb is all you need. If the salon tells you you need "special" dog shampoo, unless its got fleas or mange then they are literally taking you to the cleaners :rotfl:
Being a MSE-er has long lasting effects. My finances are now healthy again (I'm saving up for a much needed new kitchen), unfortunately due to the loss of my pet who had a serious drug habit, but I still shop in charity shops and go to the supermarket in the evenings looking for reductions. I had to watch every penny for so long that I've lost the ability to spend on the relatively small things. Once the kitchen is done, the tree in the garden is down, the garage doors and the porch are replaced I shall be beating seven bells out of my mortgage.0 -
Has shopping become a hobby for you? Do you find yourself at the weekend/ lunchtime going round the shops looking for something to buy?
I simply just avoid shops now. I run round a supermarket once a week but tother than that I just avoid them. Amazing how much you save when you don't put yourself in the position to buy 'a bargin'
I was the same Shopping became a one day of the weekend activity, plus I went out shopping in my lunch hour. Mainly clothes shopping
Things got busier at work and I didn't have the time to go out and at the weekends we found we had more to do at home, as decorating and gardening were needed
Now I have time to shop at work, but rather go for a walk and the weekend is still filled with house activities.
I agree if you can keep temptation out of the way do so and that includes online shopping!!! Not too much time surfing Ebay
My financial health is now soooooo much better0
