Halifax Mortgage Application -final checks?

My partner and I are in the process of applying for a mortgage. We have had our offer accepted on a house, instructed our conveyencers, and had the Halifax valuation done.

Our advisor emailed today saying that they had all of the necessary paperwork/information and said we will receive our formal mortgage offer this week, after "final checks" were all completed.

What are these final checks (we have already gone through the credit scoring process etc weeks ago)? And can anyone give us an idea on how long it will take for everything to complete?

We're first time buyers so obviously quite apprehensive/worried but also keen to get things sorted ASAP!

Thanks!!!

They'll be looking at the paperwork your've supplied to make sure that they confirm what you've told them

For example, they'll look at your payslips to make sure they tie up with the income you've told them that you earn.

Or bank statements, to confirm things like you are paying loans that you've declared, or to confirm that you haven't got any loans that you haven't already told them about.

If they have any queries, they'll ask your broker, if the processing clerk is happy with the information you've supplied, it'll go to the underwriter for approval.

If the underwriter is happy you'll get your offer!

Not sure what timescales they are working too these days, but I'm sure there'll be someone who'll know the turnaround times

they also are likely to re soft search
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
