Prescriptions at the vets

This isn't something I have checked out, (as I haven't had the need to use it yet) but I have been told that you can get POM type drugs for your animals via the internet. The form on the suppliers website can be printed out and then taken to your vet who is obliged to fill it in, you then post it off to the internet supplier. So for all regular prescription users it may be worth finding out if it is cheaper. This does include POM flea and worming preparations, so it should apply to most pet owners. Just Google the name of the medication and see if there is a supplier online. Good Luck

I have ordered pet medicine via the internet for a much lower price than a vet would charge. On some sites you do not even need a prescription BUT if the UK customs stop it they will charge VAT and a fee for administration. Happened to me the other day, I ordered drugs which cost £25 for 200 pills (vet price was £60 for 30 pills of same strength). There was a charge of £12.45 from the customs although I have ordered other stuff which has never been stopped. I think they stop thing randomly.
These two sites are very good, but compare prices before you buy.

we used to get the vet to write a prescription which we then got from a chemist for about £20 instead of £100 from the vet. it was exactly the same thing and saved a fortune as it was an ongoing complaint. it might be worth checking if the chemist stock what you are looking for. our vet was more than happy to write the prescription.0
