Taking ex name off joint bank account

Hi can anyone help I am with the Halifax and my ex is the second named person we have completed the relevant forms to take his name off the account and his name is still on after 5 months? Is this because I have an overdraft??

I doubt that they'll take a name off the account while there's money owed on it. Are you using the overdraft?

You should contact the Halifax and ask them however I agree with the above poster, they are unlikely to remove one party if the account is overdrawn.

Best way is if you can get funds to pay it off. What's your credit rating like?

They might transfer to one of you only in the form of a new account, but only if one of you would pass the credit check and accept the debt.

Hi, I had a similar situation with the ex although I think I may have been a bit smarter than you. I got my name taken off the account so he was left with the account and overdraft (made out I was doing him a favour as his DD all came from there). Anyway I can't see why this hasn't been resolved. Mine was resolved in 2 days. Did you witness the ex signing the form and hand it in yourself. I wouldn't trust my ex as far as I could throw him.
