Twitter, comps to get followers?

I have noticed a few compers running their own competitions on Twitter lately. Can I ask - Is this to get more followers so you can follow more than the 2000 (to enter more Twitter comps)?

If so does it work? And do you have to follow any special rules?

I think a lot of these compers have their own blogs so it's probably to do with their blog giveaways.

If you wanted to, you'd have to set up your own T+C and make sure that you picked a winner fairly. You wouldn't have to follow any rules as there's no rules to giveaways on twitter, as far as I know.

I hope that helps. It's good to have a clear out of companies anyway, as a lot of mine haven't tweeted since Feb/March.
