I have small claim court date coming up whereby I am owed a certain amount of money that I gave an ex to do some home improvement, it was a verbal contract that they would pay me back we split up and Iv never received the money despite them contacting me at varuious times in work giving me lies about coming into money soon will pay you back etc, he says his parents paid for the work but never once submitted evidence of this etc, I have all statemtns (bank) showing me going into debt due to this and they say it was a gift why would I give agift and go into debt ?? any advice please obviously nervous etc, its too long to explain everything but basically they have missed deadlines for statements out in statements after deadlines etc
