Monday 19th Aug What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing Today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :T

Morning everyone!

- Check Ebay
- Check Etsy
- Post Ebay parcels
- Change pin numbers on other bank accounts (If we end up going out)
- Need to get petrol, not got enough to get me home later!

Morning,
The List:
:starmod: Called bank to check my meagre pennies are on the best savings rate. Went through on a cheap number. Ignored advisor when he rudely asked me where I got the cheap number from as it's "not for calling from the UK". Rubbish! I refuse to call an 0845 number to ask a question about the interest accrual that should be stated in the terms and conditions, but is actually missing. Check for cheapest numbers here. (Link)
:starmod: Paid bills. Moved £50 into Savings for a week until it's needed.
:starmod: Checked when I need to contact nPower and Sky again regarding missing bill and mis-selling disputes. They have til the end of the week.
:starmod: Bucket loads of Jobseeking.
 !?*%@! Just spilled a whole cup of coffee all over me, my clean clothes and a beige rug. Cleaned up with £1 Wizz Carpet Spray from stores before any irreparable damage could be done. Luckily I was just about to put a wash on as it's a nice drying day.
:starmod: Completed OHs application form for a £200 ILA Scotland education grant. (Link) Since I last had one I'm no longer eligible because they've stopped issuing them to degree holders.
:starmod: OH is walking to shop to see if they have a Try Me Free Malay Taste Kit - Nasang Gurang in stock. (Link)
:starmod: Listening to music I already own instead of old habit of buying new CDs a couple of times a week.
:starmod: Check mobile bill; slightly less than I expected. Yay!
:starmod: Find out how to cancel washing machine mid-cycle so that when OH mistakenly puts a wash on a 2-hour boil-wash (again) we can correct it!
:starmod: Make a 2 second Skype call to keep my £3 credit alive. Haven't used it in 3 months.
:starmod: Check Nectar Points. Just need 9 more points for a "free" £5 at Sainsbury's.
:starmod: Look at DVD free rental offers. Found one: 14 days free rental at Blockbuster. Set a reminder in my phone to cancel it in 13 days. (Link)
:starmod: Got an email from Quidco. Apparently they've underpaid me a 3p from a transaction months ago at TescoDirect. Yay!Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Morning Monday Money Savers!
Well, here goes with my positive small things today.....
Things I've already done:
*Washed laundry overnight on Economy 7, 30 deg, half powder. Got up at 6a.m, so decided to make use of the remaining hour of cheaper tariff by bunging another load in.
*All now line drying as warm breezy day here.
*Charged phone on Economy 7.
*Watered veggie garden & fed all that needed it.
*Picked what needed picking - a few peas, runner beans & tomatoes.
*Stewed leftover rhubarb (made crumble & muffins at weekend)
*Prepped veg for tonight's dinner, blanched & froze surplus runner beans (Used leftover boiling kettle water for blanching).
*Raided recycled jar store for jars/lids for chutney-making.
*Got ingredients into my cauldron for spiced tomato chutney....just simmering away now, whole house smells of smoked paprika....lovely! (And has used up some of the tomato glut)
*Picked up more windfalls & added to my apple basket...will soon have enough to make some brown sauce :-)
*Do surveys.
Things I still need to do:
*Update budgets, particularly grocery budgets as this seems a very long month.....
*Make Weightwatchers Lamb & Marrow Bake for dinner, using some more of the big marrow I picked last week.
*See if (with the addition of a few breadcrumbs, onion, etc) I have enough lamb mince also to make a couple of lamb & mint burgers for the freezer.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Enter a competition.
*Try & sort out a Paypal payment. This is for a nice reason, as I took part in a creative market research project recently where we had to come up with new product ideas. Payment was £5 of Toluna points for each completed task, but there were prizes for the best ideas & I had an email today to say I've won 2nd prize for my ideas, which is £100. Payment is via Paypal, but I seem to be excluded from having a Paypal account of my own because my name is different from my husband's & our bank account is a joint one. Long dull saga......resulting in us both using the Paypal account in his name. Going to try & add my own email address to it, as I won't lie, I'm really chuffed I won that money - first prize I've won this year - & I'm not going to lose it!
Well, it sounds from all the plopping around as though that chutney's getting thick enough to bottle, so I'll wish everyone a good start to the week, & crack on.
Cheers,

Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -

Whooo-hooo! Despite only having 100g surplus mince once I'd weighed out what I needed for my main recipe, the addition of some breadcrumbs, chopped onion, fresh herbs from the garden & a shake of seasoning made enough mixture for 2 lamb & mint burgers to pop away in the freezer for another meal. Feel almost ridiculously pleased with myself. Think I see myself as fighting the System through the medium of mince & lentils! Bring it on! Power to the People! Freedom for Tooting! (OK, showing my age now.....)
