Belfast International - 4th Worst Airport in UK

I was at the airport last week after many years of absence. £3.50 (£3.00 was the min charge) for parking in short stay allowed me to visit the departure area - no viewing gallery, nothing!
I realised why so many people park on the approach road instead, even that costs £1.00.

C'mon airport owners, you can do better than that.

I would like to know why Belfast is considered the 4th worst .
    Worst UK airports
    London Luton 43%
    London Heathrow Terminal One 45%
    London Heathrow Terminal Three 46%
    Belfast International 48%
    London Heathrow Terminal Four 49%
    Source: Which?

Three out off the five are in heathrow so it cant just be parking or transport .

Has anyone seen the which report
"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"

I've been there quite a few times in the last couple of years and frankly I think its a lot worse than Heathrow. I always find the staff very rude and even for an airport everything is shockingly expensive. Really though it is just the poor customer service. Its hard enjoy yourself when you are constantly being scowled at. To be fair to Belfast, the other airport, City (or George Best as its now called) is pretty good.

I've travelled a lot over the years and think it's fair enough re Belfast International. No decent transport links, £1 to even drop someone off near the terminal, rubbish shops. Oh and the thing where they don't call flights except for a final call. City every time.

As a child in the dark days of the 70s, I remember my father occasionally taking me to the airport to collect relatives. Even then with all its security you had more access than there is now. I took my daughter last week - underwhelmed at the facilities doesn't go anywhere near describing my thoughts about the place. Think I'll try sending 'she who must be obeyed' next time.
Apparently there was shops and bars on the other side of security so I guess they're not catering :) for the droppers off
  • I travel regularly out of Dublin, and both Belfast airports and would agree with the report, slow check-ins, long queues, (security has improved slightly with the new scanners), checked luggage takes a long time to appear on the belt, long queues at the borders agency, etc. Catering choice is not bad in the departure area but is very expensive. One thing BFS has going for it is low(er) cost parking available outside the terminal.

Came through BFS last week and was unfortunate to miss my ground transport by 3mins so had to lounge about the arrivals area for 2hrs - was really terrible experience.

Only had one small cafe, poor menu choice. Was waiting at the counter for ages with a customer in front of me from the US. Cashier comes over and the other customer orders 2 coffees and a scone. The cashier gives the items and then announces that she has no butter only jam. The customer says ok, then the cashier announces sorry I've no knives, here take this teaspoon to put the jam on

I ordered a cup of tea and a cinnamon bun - cost £4.50

However, it's recently been sold by Abertis who have run it into to the ground to maximise profits.
Maybe the new owners will make it into an 'international' airport, rather the rip-off pass-through it is now.
