Where can I find a job distributing newspapers, catalogues or flyers?

I am looking to get a bit of extra income and think that distributing things to people's letterboxes would be perfect for me: a local job which I can fit in around my studies. However, I have two problems.

First, I do not have a car so I'm not sure how I would heft a large number of heavy catalogues around. I'd need to find something light or small enough to do entirely on foot, although I do have a bicycle and a granny big should either of those come in handy!

Second, I can't seem to work out how to find one! I don't really know how it works - are there central agencies you can apply to or does each company have its own people? I definitely do not want to knock on doors - just to put things through letterboxes. I don't mind getting up early, so newspapers would be alright, but I just can't seem to find anything advertised!
One sensible purchase at a time.

Local free newspapers often want delivery people, either look in paper or ring them. If you want a regular paper round then go to nearest newsagent and put your name down for when a vacancy occurs.

Many leaflet drops here seem to be done by company employees or by foreign labour, possibly underpaid. Or perhaps there is a central agency for local takeaway menu deliveries.

This company does Yellow Pages and other items. There is a list on their website of upcoming delivery dates.
  • If you are after delivering leaflets then they are often done by bigger companys.
I looked into doing it once and they said I would be picked up in the morning then driven to an area to start delivering the leaflets.
I was told we could travel upto 40 miles away to start delivering

They appear to recruit car owners only, so not suitable for OP.

  • Find them on Google. Local newspapers are the best source. Also try to find them as on yellows pages because many of the people have listed their websites on yellow pages.
    Thanks

If the OP hasn't got the means to get themselves and a load of material to a remote location, then all he can really look at is delivery in his own neighbourhood. In which case, the only real starting point is to contact those people already delivering to his door.

Betterware! You can make 200-500 a week (yes really) if you are prepared to put the leg work in and are in the right sort of area.

I know it's a bit more than just dropping, but you could do a dropping round at the same time?
