I've heard a lot about waldorf salad but I'm not big on mayonnaise. Any ideas for a twist on this salad would be appreciated!

The menu is coming along, just dessert to think of, changed my mind about the chiffon cake. Here it is so far:
Antipasti - sundried tomatoes, mozzarella, tepanade, olive oil, balsamic, hm bread
Rosemary Sorbet
Tomato & Vodka Consomme
Cheese Souffle
Root Vegetable Jewels, (slices of layered carrot, parsnip, beetroot and goats cheese terrine) basil & sprinkled seeds
Red Wine & Mushroom Soup
Basil-Lime Sorbet
Beetroot & Goats Cheese Ravioli with chive butter and hazelnuts
Elderflower Sorbet
Dessert
Italian and french food were popular, so I've gone with that. Particularly pastas, souffles and consommes. Cheese also seemed to feature a lot.
I kind of feel like making something with either whiskey or kirsch. Any ideas? Citrus and exotic fruit were also very popular at the time.October Grocery Challenge: £20.65/£150

Ok, I just found out a couple of our guests hat whiskey (it's japanese - yamazaki, so e or no e?). However, I will definitely make that dish for myself and the oh sometime soon adouglasmhor!
Pineapple upsidedown cake was invented in the 20s but I thought that was a bit to kitsch, so I'm going to do a sort of deconstructed version.
The price of my weekly shop for me and oh, plus dinner party, including a couple of bottles of fizz and the delivery, is £55. I had about a tenners worth of various Tesc0 vouchers and coupons. Pretty money saving

Scottish whisky has never had an E......Irish whiskey has an E, they put in an E to differentiate Irish Whiskey from Scots Whisky in the 1800s.....Scots Whisky at the time was very poor.
Most countries including Japan spell it whisky.......America tends to spell it whiskey.0 -
