Sat/Sun 17th/18th Aug What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing This Weekend?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :T
Morning DFW-Jedis
It's the weekend! Yay! Hope everyone is well. It's raining really hard here so Plan B is a free visit to the museum.
The List:
Pick up OHs errant prescription on way to museum.
Trip to the Burrell Collection (Link). It's usually lovely and warm in there! Parking a hundred yards away to avoid paying car parking. Taking a flask and sandwiches with us. We've been to lots of free museums lately. I really recommend the new-ish, enormous Glasgow Riverside Transport Museum if you're nearby. (Link) I know it sounds lame, but it's actually fantastic and it's always busy. Children under 8, photographers and pensioners especially seem to love it and you can eat your packed lunch indoors! For a list of free museums check out this link. (Link)
Use SatNav App on my phone to make sure I take right turning on motorway, rather than buying a SatNav, which are much sought after by local thieves. It's called Google Maps Navigation for Android. The navigators pronunciation is terrible, but, hey, it's a free App!
Charge phone in car while driving.
Might stop off at Ikea for a browse on the way home.
Try to win Shreddies goodies. (Link) Nope, try again tomorrow.
Received free caramel coffee sample, will pop it in my flask today. (Link)

* all meals from stores - we have been eating out loads recently, but now cutting back as we have booked a holiday in October :j
* going to meet dd for a coffee in a bit - will stick to just coffee and try not to let her rob me blind!
* hopefully getting £10 back that dd owes me
* going to The Range to look for blinds - yes the saga continues!
* do some form of free exercise today - walk, jog, look into the shred or go to the gym with oh
* put some ska music on and not feel too sad that we decided not to go to the local ska festival as we wanted to save money
* paint skirting boards in kitchen
* do some sewing - need to pick up the patchwork quilt I am making dgd. I've done all the patches, just need to put it together now
* oh clean the lounge carpet with the carpet cleaner he borrowed from work :T

Hello lovely people....I'm creeping back into the room, hoping no one noticed me missing for yonks:rotfl:
I don't feel I've been very good, mse-wise...just back frm a holiday that went on a cc:o...but it was a 0% for 2 yrs card. My girls are getting older now, as are my nieces so there probably won't be many family holidays with my sis and her family too. And we absolutely loved the holiday, I don't regret it:)
So, I should get back posting here...keep me in line. On my summer hols right now, so finding it hard to have NSDs and to really save anything. 2 teens seem to constantly need a few pounds...it's hard:o
Ok, enough of me waffling - here's a list for today:- Check onepoll - I'm £5 from the magic £40 so I must get there!
- Email darn eBay buyer again - he wants a £60 sale sent to a different address than he has registered (his home, not business), I said I will only send to registered addresses and he's gone quiet - grrr, I need the £60 payment
- Think of a meal for tonight, just dd2 and I
- Parcel up Next returns - a few sale bits I ordered
- List a few more bits on eBay
- Meal plan for next week
- Lunch from stores...not much in, but we have bread and bacon so sarnies it is
Hmmmm...not a great list really;)
Enjoy the weekend everyone:)I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Hey everyone!
So far I have:
Deposited cheque from 2nd job into bank
Posted an eBay item
I need to complete
Ironing (got a months worth!! Eek)
Order more post bags from eBay for eBay sales
Review my budget and update accordingly
Do a bit of food shopping
Start an eBay log of bought/sold - I charged too much postage on one item but not enough on another.. Want a realistic view of how much I have made from eBay this year!
Gym
2nd job
Mop floors
Buy lipgloss and foundation... Not MSE but I lost my whole makeup bag (about £300 worth in total) being very drunk the other night.. Will teach me not to drink again (i wanted to cut back anyway) so in the long run that's very MSE (I hope)
Revise
That's all ha ha

Morning all,
I have spent the morning in frantic cleaning mode as DD2 has a friend over. The friend if only 7 so I am not sure why I panic that everything is just so as she wouldn't notice anyway!
Hi Pixie - lovely to 'see' you
DNMS - where are you going in October?
My day;
DD1 out with friends - she feels entertained at no cost to me!
DD2 has friend over - she feels entertained too...may walk them to the park if the weather cheers up
Go to little shop and buy lunch supplies trying to spend as little as poss.
Dinner from stores - pasta bake with cheap bacon misshapes from butcher
Decluttering
List cartridges on ebay as my printer broke.
Choose a book to read
Check 101 list of things to do as I have something to cross off.
Text bro about £73 he owes me.
This month has gone okay. The kids being off school is obviously costly but it also hasn't helped that I chose this month to be my 'no using a supermarket' month which has meant an increase in grocery spends!
An interesting and eye opening thing to do!

Afternoon peeps!
I'm loving our FB group as it reminds me to post. I always list the same sort of things but I forget about how reading other people's posts give me great ideas.
Unfortunately as I have so much washing/housework to do and it looks drab outside I have used the tumble dryer, washing machine twice and dishwasher already this morning! I should really look into British Gas's free electricity on a Saturday thing...
This is me:
- Check banks
- Went to Mr T's to collect shopping on free click and collect
- Didn't take purse out so wasn't tempted to spend
- Write meal plan so OH can understand it, instead of my scrawled notes!
- Spent the whole morning (10am until just now) cleaning and tidying the house. I work long hours and have had a few busy weekends, this is my first with no plans! Plus OH is at work so he's not under my feet. Only have the kitchen to do now but have sat down with a cuppa
- Plug in small lamp in living room so I don't have to use main light
- Wearing a misordered "Maternity" top I bought years ago but never sent back. It doesn't seem like a maternity top, just a loose(ish) t-shirt!!! :rotfl:
- Sorted out the various bed linens and threw out the surplus
- Hang as much washing on airer as possible without making my lovely clean house look like a Chinese laundry. Only want to use the tumble ONCE!
Right, the rest of my stuff today revolves around not going out and spending money, although we need to find a new TV as DB3's house is going to be ready for him to move in to soon and he's going to want his TV back! Might go window shopping with OH this afternoon
JxNothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0 -

I could be wrong but I don't think they're offering it yet. (Link) (Link2)Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
The List 2:
Homemade, unhealthy, Chinese for dinner tonight: Lemon chicken, special fried rice (without the meat/shellfish) and prawn crackers. (Link) (Link2) Prawn crackers are this type, bought cheap locally for 50p a box as small, solid squares and home deep-fried. (Link3)
Decided not to stop off at Ikea, saved petrol on not making the two mile detour.
Entertainment: DVDs from cupboard.
Charged mobile dongle in the car while driving.
