Go to the interview at least to get some practice. You can always ask how everyone else get to and from work if someone doesn't have their own car.
But yeah, the job centre will never know about the interview unless you tell them

If it was me, I would go to the interview and explain that you have looked into travelling and the options are £XXX per week, you would really like the job but would struggle to afford the travel unless they paid for your bus/taxis. They will probably either not give you the job or if they want you, pay your travel. Win win.

If you are not better off then you cant be penalised for not doing it. If you're on WP you should have a BBC soon after induction but you should be able to figure it out yourself tbh.

Please dont follow this advice, we do get feedback off employers, being carp [sic] can get you sanctioned, a particular type of claimant uses this tactic and you don't come across as that type.

Be yourself, be normal and be honest, there is no law against discussing travel with an employer.
