I still need go blackberry /plum picking and go poundland for lots of tubs.
going to premake some crumbles and got this recipe looks good

Use blackberries to make the kids some fruit winders. 500G blackberries, 200g apples, 100g sugar or just enough to take away the tartness and 100ml of water. Stew it all in a pan for 15mins, sieve to a fine mush and then spread it on baking paper, no thicker than a £ coin. Dry out in an oven for around 11 hours or overnight in a slightly warm oven around 60º. Cut it into strips and roll up. Will keep in a kilner jar for around a year!

    could work with other fruits.

Decided against carboot today going tommorow with strict
    list things we need.

Have joined a few local groups and now have huge long/list cheap and free things to do with kids to easily fill next year!

We went huge central libary lots to do there.

barly scraped surface on parks and museums.

spent many hours grommit hunting as theirs 79gromits all over the city to find.

some cheap craft stuff for kids.

flipping dental costs hubby had band 1 £18 and ok for now I need band 2 in september £49.

Went to huge park-was nice but annoying as their were some expensive fair ground rides there plus icecream van kids hassling me for.
But we stood our ground went play area, free museum, spent ages playing on feild, tried out the new b&m kite aunt had brought kids very good loads fun simple things the best then on way home stopped in co-op and got 8rocket lollies for £1. I hate paying icecream van prices.

I know we will be ok just been a shock.

    Think actually make us stronger.

I read in email from telegraph that in august inflation fell but food prices rose and more people growing their own.

Met a group people locally who into wild food so exited to find new places to pick stuff and hoping lots chesnuts this year.

Not sure hazlenuts ready, dont trust myself with mushrooms.

bit confused about sloes? seen some berries look like sloes hedgerows are they blackthorns? as cousin said looked similar.

    Hiya Gailey, how goes it?

I keep seeing that you use wipes, do you need them? I used an old towel cut up and washed it, we were so poor, I also used washable nappies, that might cut out a few pence?

I also use a lot of J'Olivers recipes, he has a refried bean stew that I have to double to feed my greedy lot, but I can feed 4 adults for about £4, I don't use passata either, I mash tinned tomatoes, we eat soup a lot and I bake bread, pizza bases are a good thing too in the bread maker, or get kneading :/

speak to the energy company and tell them your situation, they may be able to help? or at least suggest ways that you can save money, I was spending £1 per week running a fish tank, we had 4 :O

and good luck, let us know how you are?

Just realised this thread is a year old. I wonder if Gailey's husband did lose his job and how they're doing now.

Gailey last posted in May 2014. This post here gives more up to date news. It seems like things are improving for them. I'm so glad, she works so hard to do the best for her little family
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

That sounds very positive and the new allotment will help. I'm a bit jealous of the greengage tree on her allotment!
