Came across this on a website, thought it might be useful.
The big day is drawing nearer and you want everything to be perfect. And this includes the wedding photos that illustrate your big day for many years to come. With that in mind you want the photographer to be high on the list of priorities, but how do you choose the perfect one? These 5 tips will help you decide on the perfect photographer.
Style of the photographer:
From looking around at photography sites I have managed to come across 11 styles, from artistic photographers to the more traditional. The most popular choice is the candid photography style, this style allows the photographer to take photos, and you or your guests do not realise they are doing it. Producing the most simple but effective photos of the big day. So make sure you understand the style you want while looking at potential photographers.
Compare prices:
Once you have decided on the style of photo you want taken, you can start to shop around and look for the best prices. Photography is a popular business and you won’t find it difficult in seeing more than a few local photographers. Often photographers offer different sorts of packages for example, you may spend around £1000 on 200 pictures and an album or £1250 on 250 coloured pictures without an album. It’s really down to what you want and what you want to spend.
Read the reviews:
Nowadays everybody who advertises a service are always looking for reviews, and this is the same for photographers. If you find a suitable photographer who is in your price range, always look for their reviews. Reviews are the best way at finding out from customers if the photographer was basically any good, the more reviews they have the more likely they are the photographers for you.
Meet face to face:
Before you finalise everything with your chosen photographer arrange to meet in person.
From this you should be able to get to know them better and talk about requirements you want and any worries you may have. Also you have the chance to look through their portfolio of work and judge for yourself if this is the sort of photographer you want taking photographs at your wedding.
Finally, book early:
Once you have done everything you can in finding the perfect photographer, make sure you arrange the dates as soon as you can. The last thing you want is the photographer to be booked on the day you are getting married on, this is why you should sort out a photographer as soon as you can, do prevent any disappointment in not being able to have your first choice on the day itself.
Hopefully the tips above help you decide on the photographer and make the stress of it all a little bit simpler.

I'm actually thinking about producing a short YouTube video for the same purpose.
I'm a part time wedding photographer and recently I've heard some real horror stories from brides. For example one who didn't turn up until really late, took a few photos then provided a load of unedited photos.
Another who produced a load of work nothing like the portfolio the couple saw. Turns out the photos were from other photographers!
And last week a poor bride whose 'photographer' turned up with a point & shoot camera from Argos!
The website above is a good starter but personally I have a lot more tips based on my experience. So a question for the brides. Would you prefer to watch a video on how to choose a wedding photographer or read a website?0 -
