Marrying abroad just the two of us!

Options
Hi all!

New to this but joined to hopefully get advice from others about marrying abroad.

Basically myself and my fianc! want to take a holiday somewhere for a week and get married whilst there without telling anyone till we get back but we're clueless about where to start! Been searching Google to no avail and do not want to just walk into a travel agents and be bombarded with questions about destinations and things until we know more on different countries and prices.

Looking to spend maximum £2500 on holiday + wedding together. (Not including dress)

Any advice on countries/best places to look would be brill!

Thanks! :j

I would think it depends on where you want your holiday, Cyprus is popular for wedding i think, as is the USA

this thread might be a help to you: here

but you will still need someone to witness it

We got married abroad just the two of us and Crete was one place that kept popping up when we were searching, although we opted for a winter wedding in Lapland.
We didn't take anyone with us but for witnesses our Wedding Planner provided them.

Have you looked at ordering travel brouchers online from travel agents? That way you can look at options in peace without being bombarded!

What time of year are you thinking (or does it not matter ?)

We decided on Vegas as there is minimal legal paperwork (just passports -they don't even want to see the divorce paperwork and an all in wedding can start as low as $300 including minister fees etc .We've gone for a package that will cost $1000 with a classic wedding chapel , photos, flowers ,video all included and avoided the cheaper ones as they can be a bit basic (or perhaps just simple if that's what you want) - flights and hotels booked seperately. It would certainly be do-able within your budget so long as you avoided the peak months for flights and went for a nice but not super luxurious hotel.

What I really wanted to do was get married, just the two of us, in Central Park in New York. Had it booked for 10/10/10. cost was about $120 including celebrant and it was dead simple to organise. In fact, I'm sure I got the idea from this board and could dig out the contacts if you're interested.

However, OH decided he couldn't do it without his mum and dad there, so we're off to Orlando in 6 weeks time with a plane full of Scots. We'll be joined by a crowd of US relatives so it's a bit far off what I'd thought.

have a lovely day whatever you decide
