Carpet Cleaners

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced carpet cleaner?

I have a large light coloured rug that is completely rotten due to having 3 children. I hired a Rug Doctor a while ago, which was a godsend, but I thought that if I kept paying out £30 here and there I may as well invest in a permanent one.

Also, has anyone used the JML Miracle Dry Foam carpet cleaner? I just wondered if it was any good for ground in dirt, or more applicable for spot stains?

I also hired a rug doctor about 6 months ago from Homebase for £13 for 24 hours. You have to collect and return it yourself as well as buying the cleaning fluid but found it was the cheapest way to do it as you could do the whole house in one day and have loads of cleaning fluid left for the next time few times you need to do it.

A good carpet cleaning machine will cost hundreds and the cheaper ones don't clean deep enough in my opinion.
