UCAS will be coining it in again today - their 0871 468 0 468 Premium Rate phone number is live again for teenagers needing to find a different university or course.
www.SayNoTo0870.com lists some possible alternatives (01242 545704, 01242 222444 & 0330 333 0230) but the 0330 333 0230 number, which would be charged at the standard landline rate (or included in a calls plan if you have one) shows the UCAS operators if you're calling from a UK landline and they then merely direct callers to the 0871 number.
It's probable that calls from UK mobiles to the 0330 333 0230 numbers will be accepted but, of course, that's only truly viable if you have inclusive minutes. Otherwise, the call will be charged at your mobile operator's standard landline rate (likely to be more than the 10.2p/minute cost of calling the 0871 number from a BT landline).

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
