Changing jobs- mortgage application

Hi,

As always- things always happen at the same time.

I have an opportunity for a role at a company I would really like to work at and would be a really good step in my career. I have had a first stage interview, feedback was good and they want to do a final stage.

The issue arises in that we are currently applying for a mortgage (95%) we have an AIP and today submitted the full application. I think have read somewhere that it you shouldn't move jobs whilst buying a house.

Is anyone able to advise me whether this would be the case?

Is it possible to be working your notice period whilst the application is going through and then potentially actually change roles after completion?

As a note when I attended the interview we didn't have the AIP and we weren't sure of our chances as it was 95% so didn't want to miss the opportunity.

Thanks in advance,
RA

    Very tricky with 95% lending.

Your lender may not lend until you have your first payslip in the new role. New to your employment can also reduce your score.

One of those times in life when you have to decide your priorities.

  • And whatever you do, be honest. Lenders can and do withdraw offers if they find something has not been disclosed to them deliberately.

    Thanks both.

Ultimately the house is more important to us at the moment and I have pulled out of the process.

Go for the job, then see how events pan out.

They have told me they wanted to offer and would want me to resign immediately. Surely if that happened and Nationwide called my company then they would know I was working my notice and I could risk the mortgage?

The company have left it open if things change that I can let them know but they won't hold the position if someone else suitable comes along.

Why don't you call Nationwide to see what their policy on this is? You can't be the first person to experience this situation.
