Price of flowers

Options
Hey

I think I have found a nice florist local to me who does some lovely flowers. They are offering a package which includes the brides bouquet, 2 bridesmaids, 4 buttonholes, 2 ladies corsages and a small table decoration for £199. Is this a good price? It feels to me like it is as I had budgeted £1000 but hat was based on no real idea of flowers prices :D

We are planning on doing the table centerpieces ourselves. possibly out of sweeties so we wouldn't need these.

Thanks

Brilliant price! I'm making my own paper flowers as I've found fresh flowers to be so expensive :(

I'll be making my own bouquets having found here how to do it on youtube. It will be a mixture of the garden flowers and flowers bought at Tesco with some of the decorative flowers from the florist. It really doesn't look that difficult to do and will be fun.

Saying that, I think £200 for all this is an amazing price.

Depends where you're based... my florist's prices would work out at about £250 for all that I think, though we're in London - and my florist has featured in several wedding magazines! Also, prices will vary wildly depending on the type of flowers you're after.

We have found that the expensive part of having fresh flowers comes from the centrepieces (average from the quotes we've had of £70 per table) and the pedestals (around £150 per ped).

Just to give you an idea, total flower cost for our (smallish) wedding is coming in at just over £1k for everything. I'm well aware, from recent family weddings, that if we were marrying further North the cost would be significantly less. So you may have some bargaining power...

Thanks everyone. I'm Edinburgh based, which can be expensive at times. Really have no frame of reference for flowers so I did think that price seemed reasonable.

We are thinking of doing sweetie centerpieces ourselves so wouldnt want flower ones. However, saying that the next package up that the florist offers is £399 and includes all that plus 10 fishbowls or lily vases with flowers and two thank you bouquets as well.

I have contacted them for a chat :)

    I paid £320

    Tied Bridal Bouquet
    2 bridesmaids bouquets
    1 Flowergirl Bouquet
    6 mens's buttonholes
    2 corsages for Mothers

    Large Arrangement for Altar
    2 side arrangements for Chapel
2 Articfical Bay Trees for Chapel Door
2 small arrnagements as cake toppers

From what I have heard this was a brilliant deal - as the Bridesmaid Bouquets alone seem to be around £50 most places.

Your deal seems very reasonable to me too

Its a good price if they are using specified varieties of flowers and not just the cheapest on the day and if you enquire about them please ask them to use a min length of 70cm roses, they will know what you mean, otherwise you will end up with little piddly things but make sure they name the vairieties, otherwise steer clear
  • thanks all! i have made initial inquiries and will be arranging an appointment to o see them. will keep all this advice in mind to ask :)
