Hi, Im doing a sweet buffet for 120 people and i want 10 different flavour sweets, how many of each should i get? 1 - 2 kg? It sounds a lot, but 3kg of love hearts would only fill a large mixing bowl and i dont want to run out.

I reckon a reasonable way to work it out would be to say that a "quarter" of sweets is a satisfying portion (quarter of a pound is how they used to be sold .. not meaning to patronise sorry just not sure how old you are!!).
That's about 115g so if you round up to 125g you would get 8 portions in a kilo - so for 120 portions you'd need 15kg in total.. so your estimate seems about right to me - say 1.5kg of each...
The only other thing to think of is - will everyone want their full portion? People normally say you should cater for only a percentage of your expected numbers at a normal buffet so I suppose the same could apply here and cut it down a bit x

I'd like to know - i know the oasis ball etc, but apart from lollies how do you stick the sweets on? and how many sweets per head are you catering for?0 -
I'd go 2kg each to be on the safe side. A friend of mine did a sweetie table for her sons wedding, she organised it all and went for over kill with the sweets and it was a good job she did and she said people were stocking up bag fulls to take home.
Re sweet trees I have only ever made one, made it for my hubby's 30th and I use flying saucers at which I used tooth picks to stick them on.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -

Some sweets may be more popular than other so you could get more, for example, love hearts.
Also, sweets are different weights - compare 2kg of sherbet lemons to 2kg of flying saucers.0
