Remortgage Timeline

Hi
Im wanting to remortgage my house but Ive been waiting to finish an extension Im building to maximise the property value and get the best LTV.
Im now only a couple of weeks from finishing but I could be potentially be offered a new job in the next week or two and Im guessing applying for a mortgage only a few weeks after moving jobs may cause a problem?
When someone applies for a mortgage I presume the credit checks are done straight away. Would they check with my current employer that Im in employment/salary etc as I need this doing before I hand my notice in.
If I applied now and got all the checks out the way beofre I potentially hand my notice in, and then I could delay the survey until the house is finished.
Anyone see any problems in this?
Im sure that you need to report any changes in circumstances etc but Im just weighing up my options.

If the works are materially complete, there is nothing to stop you applying now. The surveyor will make some suggestions for conditions on its completion before lend. You'll need to declare the change in job, though, so not sure how much benefit by starting now.So many glitches, so little time...0
