Virgin Media Charge for cancelling

Hi There,

My friend has been a Virgin Media customer for several months now and is intending moving house at the end of this month.

He contacted Virgin Media to inform them of this and has been hit with a £140 cancellation charge as he has not fulfilled his 12 month contract!

Is this normal? I think it is a joke personally.

The area he is moving to does not have cable, so he wishes to cancel indefinetly.

Can you please help my friend as I think he shouldn't have to pay this hefty charge for wanting to move house and cancel his cable.

Thank You.

There is a part in their terms and conditions listed on their website specifically stating that if you move to a non cabled area you will not be charged a cancellation fee.

I'll try to find the link to it and a number for the exact part of the t&cs.

Rather than bumping the thread, why not PM either pollyskettle or coyle888, either of whom have the relevant link?

Why couldn't they just post the relivent link in the thread? It would be more useful.

The fact that they've changed the T&Cs on their website and I can't find it now. I suggest you check the written T&Cs first issued with the contract.

But shhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell anyone
