Wife 30th Birthday - Need BIG Ideas!!

Hi,

My wifes 30th birthday is coming up (in about 5/6 months) and i need to get cracking on what to get / do for her.

I have a lot to live up to as she paid for a rather expensive trip abroad for me to america for my 30th birthday!! (can't believe she did that)

Money is a bit tight at the moment, however i'm planning on throwing all i have at it so if anyone has any suggestions to get my mind thinking i'll be very grateful!

Cheers

A

One of the most thoughtful things my husband ever bought for me, was to track down an old edition of a book that had been a childhood favourite of mine.

Would depend how tight money was but how about a mini break on the Eurostar? It's a pretty big idea but nowhere near as expensive as a trip to America.

If that's too expensive, how about throwing a surprise party and asking all the guests to bring a bottle so all you need to do is provide the food?

Some idea of the budget would be helpful.

For my wife's birthday, I arranged for her to be a Zookeeper For A Day at Colchester Zoo.
It was a brilliant experience, she got to handle, feed and meet up-close several groups of animals, including the elephants which she really loved.
Also met the snakes, which spooked her at first, but handled with confidence at the end.
She spent time with the owls and other birds of prey and flew falcons.

Most zoos offer this type of experience but the big ones are usually booked up 12 months ahead. The smaller zoos are more flexible on the days they offer and they are cheaper, too.

My partner did similar to this- I once told him a daft story about how I gave away one of my favourite toys as a child and instantly regretted it. For my birthday he called a bunch of toy collectors from the appropriate decade and bought another one- it wasn't the same version but I was overwhelmed by the gesture!

You don't have to spend lots- a lovely gesture like that is appreciated more than an expensive gift.
