Thanks for some feedback, the link above isn't working, can you repair and tell me the model it sounds perfect! Although as you say depth is an issue in the current kitchen we have.

Bizarre - it seems to have disappeared from the JL website overnight.
Anyway - this is the link to Samsung direct. If I remember correctly Currys had it at the same price at the time (£649 with the cashback offer). The very odd thing was that the black version of exactly the same model was £100 more so although I'd have liked black the graphite was good enough for me!0 -
Bought Samsung from currys some years ago, American style with ice and water dispensers, best buy we ever made. Samsung carried out mod FOC even though no problems experienced.0

Looks good, just worried on how big depth is as you say. Can you do me a favour and measure the depth, sometimes manufacturers seem to measure different!! Can you measure the actual fridge depth, and then total with handles to see how far they actually stick out.
It looks a decent size fridge for use, the quoted litre for freezer and fridge are impressive. Like the look of the water dispenser, is the ice maker the little drawer in the freezer what you twist?
Also the 5 year warranty sounds good, is it parts and labour, so everything covered ie call out etc?
The trouble with Samsung (and others), they have so many models and model numbers hard to tell difference between them for comparison.0 -
ok - I've measured it.
From the wall which it sits against to the front (minus the door handles) is 27 inches which I think (I'm a dinosaur and work in imperial) is 686mm? The handles are 2 inches deep which would make the total 736 (if I've used the online calculators correctly).
I would say that our plug is on the wall behind the ff so if the plug was elsewhere it could probably go back another full inch however I don't like it to be right against the wall if that makes sense.
The ice maker is indeed the little twist thing with a drawer underneath and works perfectly for us. We filled it about 3 times initially, let it freeze each time and tipped the ice into the tray and we've just continued to replace it every so often since. Stores plenty ice for what we need and you could make more and tip into a tub and place in one of the drawers if you were having a party or something.
It has some other features like a holiday setting and so on which I must be honest we haven't used yet however so far I'm really happy. It feels solid, the water dispenser has been well used and I think it has good storage both in the fridge and freezer compartments. I must confess initially I was planning to buy the cheapest fridge freezer I could find then I chanced on this and began to think about the 5 year guarantee (which still seems to be on offer) - it's certainly twice what I had intended to spend however I feel it was good value and looks solid.
Good luck with your decision - I spent weeks investigating before I decided. Who would have believed a simple appliance could require so much thought:)0 -

Look at Boots appliances very competitive with pricing AND you get some points on your Boots card. Not 4 per £1 think it's 1 but still some return.
Just go on normal Boots site and put fridge freezer in search box.0 -
Thanks again for your help, appreciate it. Forgot to ask more about the water dispenser, is it just literally a water tank that you fill, and a spout on the front that opens to allow water. Does it have a filter? Is it replaceable? Have you investigated the cost? Availability? Where to buy from?
Hi
The dispenser is basically a tank on the inside of the door which is easily filled without removing. The front looks like a conventional US type water dispenser where you depress your glass against a lever to have the water flow out. Inside the door the water tank fits on to the back of this if that makes sense so it doesn't look any different to other fridge freezers.
I don't see any filter on it so don't expect to have to replace anything. I'm fortunate to be in a very good water area so don't tend to think about filters - not sure how much of a concern that may be for others though.0 -
I chose the water and ice dispenser, only drawback was changing the water filter every 6 months even if in a soft water area. We probably use 5 litres of water and 20 or 30 ice cubes a day so having to fill a water tank rather than having a permanent plumbed supply would be very inconvienient.0
