UK Local Recruitment - Scam?!

Looking through the job centre site and there are a lot of jobs with the poster being "UK Local Recruitment" e.g. https://jobsearch.direct.gov.uk/GetJob.aspx?JobID=2972181&JobTitle=Sales%2c+Sales+and+Marketing&rad=20&rad_units=miles&pp=25&sort=rv.dt.di&vw=b&re=3&setype=2&where=Ayr&pg=7&avsdm=

The site looks amateur at best (and is giving me a headache just looking at it), the "self employed" part screams no to me, and the wages seem too good to be true.

Anyone shed light on it?

There are no wages as its self employed so any figure they quote is not what you would earn its saying what you could earn

The site looks very dodgy and you have no address no phone number and no email contact

Look like someone from the US has registered the domain for a year. Their details are private aside from the country/state and the site won't be around in a couple of months unless they extend it. Very dodgy.

Pity the Jobcentre isn't checking any of this !

    It really is shocking.

If they did check this they'd ask why you weren't applying and say it's not acceptable to not go for it.
  • I have looked all the past postings about Uk Local Recruitment it's worrying me that I applied for a job and sent them a copy of my CV to them to them some time ago. Even if a CV does not hold a lot of information it still could be passed on to some one else to be used as their own.
Obviously the job center don't care but I wonder what Reed.com will have to say about that so called recruitment company.

UK Local Recruitment is a scam designed to get CVs from jobseekers to sell on at a profit. CV Library pay £1 per CV that they receive.

UK Local place thousands of adverts on Jobsearch Direct every day. These vacancies have been stolen from other, legitimate recruitment websites and are often long expired. Once job hunters have uploaded their CVs to UK Local Recruitment's website they will never hear from them again

Monster who run Jobsearch Direct in partnership with the DWP know perfectly well that UK Local are scammers but ignore this blatantly obvious fact because these fake listings swell the number of vacancies listed to give the illusion that there are loads of jobs available.

Reed are another bunch of scammers albeit with some genuine vacancies. Their big trick is to copy-and-paste other agencies' vacancies and pass them off as their own- often on Jobsearch Direct there will be half a dozen or more listings of exactly the same job, by different scammy scummy agencies, which have long since been filled. Reed don't sell on CVs themselves because they have a huge CV database of their own which they sell to employers at prices starting from £119 + VAT.

If you want to make easy money start your own fake recruitment agency and watch the CVs and ££££ roll in.

'Their' vacancies were also listed on Recruit8, a now defunct site, and UJM until a few months ago. And it was just as amateurish a site. Having a quick Google search seems to show that they're one and the same.

I also wonder about Zettria, they seem to have been listing the same handful of vacancies repetitively on UJM since March or April.

I was looking at Zettria last week, I couldn't find any trace of their activities on Google.

Zettria do have a website but it has nothing to do with recruitment and they don't have a chain of estate agents either. In fact they haven't got any at all

    http://www.zettria.com/

They offer a mish-mash of services which are vaguely aimed at estate agents. There's no contact address but they do 'helpfully' provide a map with a pointer on it which is of an industrial estate in Wimbledon. The Domain has been registered using a proxy which means that contact details are hidden.

One thing is for sure: none of the vacancies that they advertise on Jobsearch Direct exist. All the job descriptions apart from the location are identical. The £8.40 per hour wage is well above the norm for this sort of position. They say applicants shouldn't include their home address in any application but then go on to ask for a CV. The page on their website that I visited also hosts Google Syndication which provides adverts. However there is no privacy policy which breaks Google's Terms of Use.

So to sum up Zettria are yet another bunch of scammers using Jobsearch Direct to collect CVs to sell on at a profit.
  • There is an address for them on their About page:
UK Local Recruitment is part of UK Local Ltd, founded in Glasgow in 2011. Registered company address: 272 Bath Street, Glasgow, G2 4JR.
However, I also thought the site appeared very amateurish and was sceptical although I have applied for a couple of jobs through them now and intend to continue in the hope of something or at least to show that I am applying.
Can someone please explain this whole "selling on" of CVs business to me? I don't follow what this is exactly. I'm not too bothered about any of my information being shared as there's little if any sensitive data but if this whole thing is a waste of time and is essentially a scam it should be stopped none the less.

    Thanks everyone.
