Payment to secure a rate - Conventry - Please advice needed

Hi There

Back in March this year, I contacted a Mortgage broker I worked before with so I could remortgage my property as my fixed rate term was coming to an end. .
The MB found me a good rate with Coventry, a payment of £199 was paid to secure the rate and all the checkings, valuation begun...
I work for a reputable company for more then 10 years so thought the checkings & validations would be a breeze but to my despair from March till mid of last week all that I got from Coventry was that my line manager didn't come back to them confirming I was employed and depiste all my help and intents to engage Coventry in threads of emails with my line manager I never saw any substanticial material to confirm Coventry was doing the job right... as all I could hear was that my line manager never got no letter or email from them asking for reference...

Now the offer was withdrawn and I am worse off £199 paid early in the year... how can I recover this money as I see no reason Coventry should keep it as I never saw any evidence they were doing their job right and now I have no remortgage...

Please help!

This is Coventry's position on booking fees.

    Booking Fee

(please refer to your Mortgage Offer)A Booking Fee is charged to cover some of the costs associated with the mortgage application on certain types of mortgage schemes. The amount depends on the type of scheme applied for and will be contained in your Key Facts Illustration and confirmed in your Mortgage Offer. The application will not be processed until the fee is received by us. This can be paid by credit/debit card or cheque. It cannot be added to the mortgage. This fee is not refundable.

Of course you could always be reckless and ask them for a refund.

  • Has anyone here claimed or know of someone who claimed this fee before, do I have a chance to have it back?

    Many Thanks
