Either a pot of bicarb with maybe some essential oils added.Or you could do the same with white vinegar OR make a spray with white vinegar and a few drops of essential oil or lemon/Orange juice and give a couple of squirts in the centre of each room.If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0

Can you use an aromatherapy burner with essential oils? Works well in my house if I need to freshen the air! I mainly use lavender, geranium,ylang ylang and rose otto oils0

Vodka with a bit of essential oils can act like a home made Febreeze, and the alcohol smell goes away when it's dried.
If your pets have bedding, just airing them on the line every few days for an hour or two will freshen things.
A HM potpourri that you heat up a few times a day then change every day or two. You can really go wild with these and choose what doesn't set off your hayfever.0 -
You'll need to avoid essential oils if you're sensitive to linalool and citronellol.

I am extremely sensitive and can't use any bought air fresheners, so I use Pomanders.
A whole orange into which you press cloves. These eventually dry out, but one last a full year.0 -
