Is it best to iron clothes that are wet/dry/damp/inbetween?

OK, not strictly moneysaving, but something that's been bothering me for a while.

Which will give the best result?

Any suggestions?

I would have thought slightly damp (I rarely iron these days, but jeans I iron while still damp and then hang up to dry).

If I iron (which is rare) I tend to do them just damp.
One day I might be more organised...........

Well, by the time I get to the ironing it's usually all dry anyway, but then I use the steam iron so I guess slightly damp is the answer - but you have to be around to catch it just at that stage!

Always slightly damp........if I know I am not going to be able to iron straight away, I use a spray you can get from the garden centre to dampen the things a little, you can put in a couple of drops of essential oils, makes you clothes smell lovely......

I must admit there is not much these days that I do iron, OH shirts for bowls and blouses etc.........

i always put oh`s shirts out on the line to give them a quick blow in the wind and get them in again whilst still damp as they are much easier to iron. i iron them then hang them on clothes hangers to dry off properly, it saves so much time because if you leave them to dry then bring them in and fold them then put them in a ironing basket for 2 weeks:o they get really really crumpled.
proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance! :p
