How to store fresh coriander?

I have tried to go my own, without much success, seems a particularly 'moody' herb that doesn't endure my lack of green fingers!

At £1.25 a bunch in T*sco it's not cheap, but I have 3 vegan daughters and they all love this herb as it has the ability to pack a real 'taste punch' especially added to pulses. Do any of you OS experts have any tips for the best way to store it to make it last as long as possible?
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

wrap it in damp kitchen roll and store it in the fridge
  • Have you bought in the little pots while it is growing? I did and planted it in larger pot, it is growing vigorously ouside my kitchen door, with chives, mint and Basil, all in the same big pot..

I generally have fairly good green fingers but I've never had any luck with growing coriander either!

The best way I've found to store it is to put the bunch in a pot of water and put that in the fridge - just don't forget it's there and knock the pot of water over as it never ceases to amaze me how far water can spread. (No, I've never done that myself, obviously...)
Back after a very long break!

I buy them when on special offer, chop the leaves/stalks up finely, and place into a freezer bag
Whenever I need some I take what I need direct from the freezer bag, it defrosts in minutes, and especially if using it is something hot like a curry, you can't tell the difference
  • chop ends off and put in glass of water on windowsill

the supermarket stuff you get in pots is grown in an inert medium such as coir and fed on liquid nutrients, the medium itself contains no food for the plant which is why the die off pretty sharpish after you get them home, repotting them with some nutrient containing compost as you have done will ensure their longevity

I freeze it too but I dont bother to chop it because it becomes brittle so I just crumble it into the curry.

Another vote for freezing here. Also, I check the reduced shelf every time I'm in the supermarket, and pick up any packets of coriander that are going for half price or less. I've had them for as little as 5p. They go straight into the freezer when I get home, and I always have some on hand when I need it.

I stopped growing Coriander from seed, getting a 99p pot from Lidl and split it to six (there are few dozens plants in a pot) and stick in the ground either at the polytunnel or in the garden (if you have any). Like above put it in soil or compost.

Coriander like to bolt when it's hot so from May to November I use two pots and I have so much I freeze for winter.

Mine turned into soggy mush when I tried freezing it, didn't freeze anywhere near as well as parsley does.
