If it is, as you say, "unskilled manual labour", then you should have no problems learning to do it.
As for the possibility of having an accident, most people who drive forklifts day in day out have the occasional accident, that is what insurance is for.
As long as you are not negligent or doing anything stupid you should be ok.0
