Carpet cleaner solution

I have hired a small karcher carpet cleaner for the weekend. If anyone is interested there is 40% off from hss hire for August. What is the best carpet cleaner solution to use in it? I will only be doing this once so I don't mind spending on the solution but only if the expensives ones are worth the extra. I want one that is non foaming and have cats and lots of stains so it needs to be good. I may be expecting too much but I'm hoping that my carpets will come out clean. I do actually own a vax but it is useless.
Also roughly how long will it take for the carpets to dry?
Thanks

The cleaning solutions that HSS supply are worth the money you spend on them, and their spot cleaner is the best I've ever come across.
If you use stuff other than their branded stuff, it might wreck the rubber seals on the machine, and you'll end up paying more.
I cleaned our carpets with an HSS machine a few years ago, and they looked absolutely fantastic afterwards. I don't know if HSS does a Scotchguard additive, but if they do, it would be worth paying for that as well. That way the carpets stay cleaner for longer. I didn't know that at the time, but I've used Scotchguard ever since with the Bi44el machine I have and it's worth it.
Drying times depend on the fibre your carpet is made of, ventilation, and how much of the liquid you wash the carpets with and how much of it you suck up while you're working. Ours took a couple of hours in a badly ventilated basement - the machine was that good.Better is good enough.0
