PC problems since comping

Hi all. I wonder if anyone can shed any light on some issues that have recently started since becoming joining you in comper land? Recently, every post I view on here has turned normal posts with key words such as the word 'win', 'competition', etc, into hyperlinks which in turn (as I've clicked on them accidentally) lead to some big flashing comp adverts that I don't like the look of. I also get a 'Wowcher' page up from seeming out of nowhere.
Finally, and perhaps the most worrying- many sites that I go on frequently, such as Barclays, Tesco etc will get disturbed by a page popping up asking me to do a survey about them. I forget the name of the site but it's maybe something like myoffers/Barclays or myoffers/Tesco etc etc. Can anyone help please? No idea what I've done!

Hi,sounds like you have downloaded some form of malware.
It may be down to your AV not picking it up as I have not had issues such as the above in all my years of comping.I use Kaspersky AV.
Post a query in here & some one will be able to offer better advice than I can re removal.
Sometimes I have the misfortune to have to use a PC with the same issues. It runs Avast AV.I have no say it its administration so cannot attempt a solution.
Hope you get it sorted.0 -
Thank you weeowens- have copied it onto that board, so hopefully will get sorted!0

Occasionally newbies post comps from My Offers which are a banned site on here because they produce lots of SPAM. Maybe you've entered one of those which has led you on to another site where you have picked this up. Best advice is not to enter comps the minute that they're posted, hold fire for a while because someone will generally point out that the comp should be avoided.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

I have had the same problem twice now and the second time was much harder to get rid of.
In fact the second time was just last Sunday and I got it from a competition link from a post on here. I had lots of MSE pages opened in tabs and I knew something was not quite right on one of the pages I clicked the comp link for as I kept getting weird script messages. Thought nothing of it until a couple of hours later when the spammy links were back .
I spent an age searching my history to try and remember the site I had got the bug from to warn other members on here but I had that many tabs opened and so much in my history I could not find it.
Spybot search and destroy did not find it neither did Malwarebytes. My hubby is the techie one and he spent a good deal of time in getting rid of it as it had gotten into the registry. Hubby also put addons on to Chrome & Firefox to prevent the spammy links. The best things in life are free.....0 -
What I usually do if I got something nasty, I download trial Kaspersky Internet Security, install it, switch off my my regular antivirus and run full scan (takes 10 or more hours). Most of the time it finds everything. Sometimes it could not clean, because the malware programm is running, but then you could see the addresswhere *.exe file is located. You just stop the process and delete that *.exe man ually. Only once I had a problem that could not be sorted this way. It was some kind of famous virus (as far as I remember - screen "you are infected... buy our antivirus"), it was easy to Google - description and solution - cleaning registry manually.
PS. After everything is sorted - delete Kaspersky and start using your regular antivirus.0
