hi all your views or help please would be great
a few years ago both myself and my wife where made redundant within a couple of weeks of each other this came out of the blue,
we both had redundancy but where stupid in not having mortgage cover (i know i was an idiot) after a short time we both found new employment.but alas got behind with the mortgage, we were managing to pay the monthly installments plus extra to chip away at the arrears but this was not good enough for the nationwide so they decided to take me to court for a re-possession, i was happy to go because i was paying the mortgage plus extra and was confident the magistrate would rule in our favour, a few days before court nationwide phoned to say we had not contacted them, we informed them we where happy to go to court but they wanted to call it off,ok by me as i think they where trying their luck and we didn`t buckle.we agreed on a new monthly re-payment which works out at our current normal installment plus half again so in effect every 2 months we are pay just over 3 months of mortgage, but every month i get a letter from them informing me im in arrears which we both know and to pay the arrears immediatly and they also say we have had a home visit, each letter i get they charge me and the also charge me for the home visit, im annoyed at this as im paying what they asked and keeping to their plan but as i chip at my arrears they put it back up in fee`s

If the charges levied are those specified in your terms and conditions of your mortgage offer. Then the NW are within their rights to charge them.0

You seem to be all those people complaining about mortgage PPI idiots.blackpoolrock wrote: »we both had redundancy but where stupid in not having mortgage cover (i know i was an idiot)
You may have a point!
You may also have a point in saying that Nationwide are not treating you sympathetically in your financial difficulties.
I would be inclined to make a complaint and if necessary take it to FOS. That won't cost you anything more than a couple of stamps.0 -
In the dim and distant past, I worked in a mortgage arrears department.
Have you formally agreed with Nationwide to make a certain payment each month?
When that happened, as long as the customer kept to the payment, we wouldn't contact them for another 6 months.
However, if you haven't formally agreed to anything, and are just making the payments without having previously confirmed to them exactly what you will pay, all that the Nationwide's computer will see is that you are in arrears.
So it will churn out arrears letters each month, and they'll want a home visit to formally agree an arrangement plan.
Hope this might give an insight asto what might be going on. If you have already got a formal payment plan in place (in writing) I don't know what they are playing at!Early retired - 18th December 2014

We have an agreement in writing to pay the arrears and this is what we are doing , it seams to me like the right hand does not know what the left is doing, we are being told by letter that this will be in place for 3 months then when we contact them by phone they say its on a month by month basis which ends up in us disagreeing as we have it in print, and each time just before the 3 months are up we have agreed a re-payment plan for a further 3 months yet they still keep sending me letters to pay all the arrears in full.
What more can I do as I'm complying with their requirements in full and still I get hassle it's like they keep moving the goal posts0
