Parking Fines by ex bf

It has come to my attention that my ex bf who used to live at my house (we owned it together until my brother bought him out) has got a few parking fines and the fines have been coming to my address.

This makes me assume he has been using my address as his address still (he moved out 2 1/2 years ago).

My mother (who looks after my two young children, so is at my house a lot) and my brother have either been opening my ex's post or just putting them back in the postbox saying he doesn't live there any more.

What do I do if the bailiffs suddenly turn up? Since I've found out, I've told my family not to just throw the post away (there was some bitterness, and I still don't understand why my ex didn't just get his address changed), but I don't want to just pass the post on to ex in case he's still using my address for some other reason.

You could try contacting the DVLA & report him for not using the correct address, its a £1000 fine. I'm assuming that's where they are getting the information from.

From memory it's upto £1000, but starts at £40, then £80 and more if it goes to court - which it rarely ever does.

The best thing you can do is contact the debt collectors and DVLA advise them he no longers lives at that address. If you know his current address, offer them this but don't expect them to update their details as you can't change details on account that isn't yours because of the Data Protection Act.
