mortgage advice

Hi,
this is my first post, I have been reading the forum for a long time and was really helpful.

we (me & wife) decided to buy a house. offer accepted last month, I applied for a mortgage with my bank (lloyds) in both our names (only with my salary, as my wife does not work) paid for the valuation etc.. everything was fine,

when i called my mortgage adviser at the bank yesterday. he told that my application is with the legal team, due to name mismatch. in real life my name is "xxx yyy zzz" (first, middle, surname) but in my passport the name is "yyy zzz xxx" all spellings etc are correct, but order of the name is different. btw my passport is not British.

now I am worried that my application will be rejected, I have never had any issue with this till now, (ie, when ever applying for visa etc), now that i am in trouble, I will start the process to correct it, but i am sure it will be a lengthy one and i will lose this house which we really liked.

is there anything i can do, other than wait for the outcome from the legal team?
my credit history is good with no defaults etc, and my lloyds internal credit score is 1

thank you

Was your mortgage advisor an actual advisor or someone in the bank?
This should have been picked up on before submitting an application to be honest.

The lender will probably ask for something like a copy of your visa, birth certificate and an explanation. It SHOULD be ok if the lender uses a common sense approach (ive had something similar where a passport had the wrong DoB). They will just want evidence to back up that they have done enough research to be confident everything does tally up.

Places in and around China have the surname first i believe so depending on the country your from and their customs, that might have some baring on it.

Make sure the memorandum of sale, contract and mortgage all match in the order of your name and that all are based on what it says on your formal identity documents.
