Delve in the stats and it varies area to area. Prices are still falling in Newham.

Our average was better than the London overall average of 7.1%:

    Hackney 13.1%
    Wandsworth 12%
    Haringey 0.4%

Here is a link to the original report:

    http://www.lslps.co.uk/documents/house_price_index_jul13.pdf

EDIT: According to the report Newham went up by 3.9%. Hillingdon (never heard of it) was the shocker at -5.3%.

Hillingdon is the bit west of Harrow and north of Heathrow. Uxbridge/Ruislip etc.

If, as I assume, you are talking about someone who could do either [implied using your word 'choose'] then I don't think heroism or social standing enters into it does it?

For anyone in a position to take one road or the other, then surely their choice has more to do with their financial acumen that anything else?

A huge number of social outcasts buy their own house, and a huge number of heroes live in council houses.

I think its only on this board renters are classed as underclass, and only by about 3 people

Thanks for that Chuck. Too often the usual suspects on here make up information and post it to try and negate positive news. It's a desperate strategy.

It's also one of the few places that I see that buying a house is an entitlement for everyone. Maybe they've forgotten that renting isn't a bad option or doesn't exist.

There were only 3 out of 33 London boroughs that showed a loss:

    Hillingdon -5.3%
    Redbridge -0.6%
    Bromley -0.1%

We have one property in Haringey which according to the report was the 4th worst performer only showing a 0.4% increase, that figure did surprise me as I was under the impression that it had gone up more, but 0.4% was an overall borough average figure of course.

Surely the City of London 68.4% must be an error?

I'm sure if you drilled down into those areas you would find price increases/decreases in the different types of properties - flats, houses etc away from those price decreases.

The City of London numbers are probably due to low volume distorting the numbers, definitely not right!
