If you are sure it is statute barred then you could send the letter.

Or you could just ignore the fools, as at a 90% discount they are obviously desperate and/or about to give up.

Well, 8-10 years on a unsecured debt would almost certainly mean it is SB.

How to check? Without exact details of last payment or acknowledgement in writing, then it is difficult to check. Usually I would suggest contacting somewhere like National Debtline (freephone 0808 808 4000) to get the opion of a professional debts advisor.

May not be necessary here, but you might like to for peace of mind.

That is if you intend to reply at all. As they are offering 90% discount, they seem to know they are chasing a unenforceable debt, so the other option is just to ignore them.

1st crudit (note the pun lol) were the worst DCA I have EVER had to deal with, I was getting calls and letters all the time, they were so dam rude, in the end I point blank refused to deal with them at all as they were the biggest bunch of cowboys this side of dodge city, this was in 2007/8 and since then they have had there knuckles severely rapped for bad business practices and treating customers unfairly ! personally I would completely ignore them as they don't have a leg to stand on and its a waste of the price of a stamp to write to them, the Muppets they employ probably cant read anyway, ignore them and get on with your life, as there is absolutely nothing they can do to you.
