Awful skin - what products to use?!

I'm desperately looking for advice on what skincare products I can buy for my problem skin.

I'm 22 years old and getting married in just under 12 weeks. I've had bad skin ever since I was about 12, and so I really want to get it cleared up so I feel more confident on my wedding day!

I have a variety of different spots, they tend to sit most on my jawline and neck. I do have a spread of spots over my cheeks. My spots are a combination of black and white heads. I also get spots around my hairline which I find really painful. I tend to get quite oily skin.

Any suggestions? I'm hoping to pop into town later today so any advice on what products I can invest in would be fab. x

Sudocrem. Buy a small pot from the chemist and apply it to your face before you go to bed or when you get a couple of hours on your own. Your face will look very white until it sinks in but its brilliant on spotty oily skin. It will need more than one application though. Apply it regularly and you will see a difference.

    I swear by the stuff.

  • my son who is now 15 had the worst skin ever from around 11 onwards.. doctor tried every kind of treatments they could prescribe, none worked, he was then referred to dermatology and was given roaccutane. His skin is now amazing, he has been on it for 7 months with 3 to go, he was given a low dose due to his age. I read up about the side effects etc, which some were bad, but decided that the risks were worth taking as he was upset about his skin, the only side effect he has is dry lips, and i mean 'really' dry lips, we manage this with vaseline..
Obviously you would need to think about this with regards to side effects etc, but for him it has been a miracle cure, we cant believe how great he looks, his back was covered, his face, large spots, blackheads etc. honestly they are all gone..

Also i took him to my beautician and she did teen facials on him using Dermalogica products,

Its been a long road, and fairly costly with regards to all the dermalogica products treatments etc but it has definetly been worth it for him.

    Worth thinking about anyway..

I've had problems with bad skin on my chin/jawline for ages, and I found that cutting out dairy really helped. Apparently spots around that area are hormone related, and dairy products can affect your skin because of all the hormones in cows' milk. Obviously not everyone's bad skin will be caused by dairy, but might be worth trying to cut back and see if it makes a difference?

I also try and use fairly natural face washes etc, rather than the harsh chemical based ones that seem to be aimed at spotty skin. Organic Surge do a nice one, and the Amie range is nice too.
  • Thank you so much to all your responses! I'm really grateful. I want to try and avoid medication if possible, only because I like natural products and I'm already on other medication.

I popped to the Clinique counter today... they showed me their Anti Blemish set, but at £50 I just don't know if I can justify that!

    I've been Money Tipped!
A lot of people say pee and toothpaste. I used to use a nail brush and wash then put hand sanitizer on but I just had spots not acne. My mum also swears by dermalogica but its very expensive but will last when she went to the beauticians they said she had near to perfect skin. Lucky for some. I would try sudocream or nivea if you have greasy skin as it is really thick and should dry your skin out. I had bad spots in high school and I tried everything even a load that the dr prescribed and nothing worked. And there is a lot of medication that takes time to kick in and some are just not worth the risk.
it might not be much, but its better than a kick in the teeth:rotfl:
