Debt acknowledgement

Hello all,

A quick query that I hope you knowledgeable people can help with.

Yesterday, I received a letter from Natwest chasing a debt, that I think may have, but can't be sure, gone past six years since I have paid anything on it/acknowledged it. The letter kindly informed me that they have passed my debt on to Wescot.

What I'd like to know is there a way I can find out how long I have left before the debt has gone past six years without speaking to Natwest? I think at the most it will be 2014.

I don't live in the UK anymore and I'm currently paying off a couple of bigger debts with Barclays that means it's nearly impossible to pay off my old debt with Natwest.

Hope the above makes sense.

Or just ignore it if you are sure your debt is statute barred. If they ave our address then you will get any further threatograms they send.

If your own records don't show you when this was then it may be best to ignore them until you are sure. Ultimately only a court can determine whether something is statute barred so it's a case of waiting to see if they start a court claim and, if they do, put in a SB defence.

If you get to the point where you are sure then you can send the standard SB letter.

Perhaps you could get a copy of your credit report to see if anything is listed on there for it? That might give you an idea of dates etc
