This is the trouble, I avoid this kind of purchase at all costs, as the prices are so over-inflated. However, the car is due an MOT next week, so I don't want to count my chickens...
I would happily buy a cheaper microwave, but I have a decent one with a grill, which is an absolute godsend, and was given to me before my son was born 8.5 years ago. Leads me to beleive that sometimes the quality of what you are purchasing counts.
The last thing I bought from the catalogue, was a Henry hoover.(May 2005, paid of over 52weeks) I never buy clothes or anything. So I don't think there is anything wrong with asking whether I can use it.

Neither do I. You can only do the best you can with what you've got. :) The discount will come in handy too. I've just got a 25% discount thing come through, so I'm going to use it to get a new quilt for when my mum comes to stay, as I couldn't afford one before - she lives in a hot country & really feels the cold when she's here, so it's got to be a decent one. :)
