FINALLY - My assessment is complete :)

Options
I just had a phone call to tell me that my assessment has been done.

The relief is immense. I didn't even ask when to expect payments. I was just happy it was done, finally. :T

My ex is going to be raging as he now has to pay me an extra £100 a month. We did have a private agreement that had been working fine for over 8 years but he stopped paying telling me his new wife says the CSA will make him pay less, as he travels long distances for access.

I haven't had any maintenance since December so its going to be 8 or 9 months before we feel any benefit from the increased rate.

Im just happy its done. Now, just to wait & see if he pays or disputes it.

However, i was told my complaint was now CLOSED. No mention of any news on the investigation into how my case had been handles. Just to ring once I've had 26 weeks of payments to ''discuss'' a financial loss claim.

Congratulations, i hope payments do come through swiftly without the need to be chased or a DEO imposed...

I don't get why you would need to wait until 26 weeks of payments had been received though, the complaint is the same regardless...!

:T:rotfl:I laughed. Then in my head I called her a couple of rude words.

I feel sorry for your ex, as he clearly picked the wrong woman, and is probably being told by her right now that it's his fault and she NEVER said that ever. :rotfl:

I don't get it either, I will let my MP deal with it. I have sent an email to him.

We all used to get on really well, however i have since called her a few names in my head too.

This year has been hell, they stopped paying, then took me to court requesting FULL custody, dragged me through the mud involved social services, and the police, its been horrid, which the judge laughed at, and told him to jog on basically.

I don't want to say anymore as i don't want to reveal to many details on the case.

(Im not slagging off new wifes or dads here, i know they are the minority and many many more go above and beyond to support their partners children, this is just my experience.)

I shall await the solicitors letter asking for the agreement to go back to a private agreement. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Do NOT do that under any circumstances...!!! If you close the case and does this again, you know how long it takes...!!!

However, that said, there is something called maintenance direct, still part of the CSA, but he pays direct to you. Proof would be all he needs to clearly show he is paying, so you couldn't say he hasn't when he has to get more money, but it is direct with no they pay him then they pay you after.

Basically, the long and short of it, is it uses the CSA as a means of working out what should be paid, and then you deal with it yourself, so if he doesn't pay, you can very easily go straight back to enforcement by the CSA, so MAX you would ever lose is one month... As the assessment is done and it would be just put to be collected on THIS assessment...

Never used it, don't know much about it, but a more stable way of doing things, and you can still ask for reassessments if you believe he is not paying what he should due to pay rise etc...

Someone else may be able to explain more... But that would be the way i would go now...!!! ;)
  • Oh well done. You must feel so relieved. Be prepared for a couple more months of no money if he refuses to pay.

Do you know when the assessment is backdated to? He might have an arrears bill for the last few months.
Grateful to finally be debt free!

Thanks kevin, but it is all being dealt with via the CSA now, they did mention if i wanted him to pay me direct, or if i wanted them to collect payments. I said i wanted them to make the collections.

No way am i letting him do this to me and my son ever again.

I don't care how much he protests, thats what he has to pay, Simples.

It would remain with the CSA, but may be beneficial to pay direct that is what maintenance direct is, next time you speak to them ask them to explain the ins and outs...

It may mean less grief with payments being slow, held up etc... Just an idea...
