When you're aspiring to be a MSE how do you deal with others?

  • I've been on both sides of this. I was the one wanting to do expensive things, and friends were trying to save for first homes etc.

Now the boots on the other foot, and I'm trying to save for a mortgage whilst they already have their homes and have a bit more disposable income (and some are now living off the huge amounts of credit they gve built up struggling to pay each month) I like to think I am somewhere in between the 2.

I've found being honest and saying "I'm a bit skint as I'm aiming to clear a credit card/save for a new car/whatever" with someone who are "proper friends" is enough and they wil choose a venue where we can spend as little or as much as we want.

I usually offer to drive on nights out now, people will keep you will oiled with non alcoholic beverages in return for a lift, and it's always fun being the one who can remember everyone doing stupid things when they are drunk!
