New here and wanted to say hello

Hi,

I have been lurking reading posts for around a month but have plucked up the courage to register and start posting myself.

I have always been in charge of the money in our house (for me, my hubby and two small boys) as my husband has been in debt a few times in the past and isn't really paperwork minded. Until a couple of years ago I ad never brought anything on credit but a very close friend sprung a foreign wedding on us that in hein-sight we should have just said we couldn't afford because since paying for that on cad our debt has just got worse and worse. We were keeping on top of repayments just but then at the end of last year I became very depressed and stopped opening mail etc. By the time I was on the right dose of medication and started opening my mail again not only had the debts spiralled massively but we had missed two mortgage payments

My parents have been amazing and although I they gave me such a dressing down I felt like a small child again they have leant us £10,000 which is not only interest free but there will be some flexibility with the repayments although I will not take the mick.

Me and my hubby have both stopped smoking and have been smoke free for over 9 weeks now. I have gone through all of our paperwork and word out a proper budget based on things as they re at the moment but plan to review all of our monthly outgoings (utilities etc). Have been amazed to read about the budget for things lie food shopping some people manage with and am hoping I can bring mine down.

Wish there was a quick fix for all of this but know it is more about changing our habits and staying committed.

So cross tht I have let us get here but already looking forward to the day when I can say I have got us back out.

    Hiya,

I'm a long term lurker too and you're definitely in the right place. Well done on quitting smoking and good luck on your debt free journey!
