Can I stop using a mortgage broker in the middle?

Options
So far:

I went to a mortgage broker
They told me of a deal available
Bank in question did credit check
All fine
Mortgage broker asked me to send bank statements
Sent them
Mortgage broker claimed they had only received 'some' (they had lost half basically)
In meantime, Bank's preferred surveyor told Mortage Broker and now "Case manager" that they couldn't value property for about 6 weeks. I had asked for a Home Buyers Report.
I asked "Case manager" to go back and get earlier date
They said they couldn't
I rang Bank's surveyors and secured earlier date.
Surveyor sent report and told "Case manager" that I'd only got the basic survey.
I asked the "Case manager" to look into and organise a Home Buyers as originally requested. I didn't just want the basic survey
They said no.
I organised a separate Home Buyers survey privately
They then asked me to send a couple of other documents. For fear they may once again get lost, I sent bank statements more than once to avoid any error again.
Three weeks later. They've "never received" any copies of them.
At end of my tether, I am wondering whether I can still continue with Bank, without assistance from "Case manager" and mortgage broker.

This is the first time I've ever tried to buy a house. Am I being unreasonable? Is the service level offered one I should be prepared to accept?

Is the case manager at the bank or the brokerage?
If the bank, you shouldnt really be dealing with them anyway thats what the broker is there for.

If you start an application from scratch it will result in a new credit search and basically everything from the beginning (although they may transfer the val over from one application to another).

Probably best to just stick with it, keep a record of all the mistakes and then put a complaint in to the firm.

  • Thank you so much for your reply. I'm a massive fan of forums, so I had hoped that someone out there would be able to help on a finance forum.

This is brokering service, incidentally - the Bank have been fairly quick to the best of my knowledge. I

Seems so galling when everything else has been running smoothly, for a few missing pages to change the whole process.

Speak to the case managers manager? Send everything signed for and send an email copy too?

Admittedly you shouldnt have to do everything but we do all make mistakes so fingers crossed it was just a bad day or 2 and that will be the end of it.

For any type of service i tend to find i get better service the smaller the company (in general) everyone knows eachother and your not replying on people in "head office" etc.
