Home Bargains.....bargains???

This weekend, I am off for one of my rare trips to a Home Bargains :j and wonder if anyone has any recommendations for food/cleaning baragins they have seen recently?

When I finally get to a HB, I tend to rush around oohing and aahing at the prices and wishing there was a local branch......thereby completely missing any bargains I SHOULD have spotted :rotfl:

Many thanks!!

Any short term, temporary specials tend to be on display at the door, so don't rush past there too quickly.

The rest you probably already know about :)

    Thank you!

Actually I DO rush in.....and no doubt past any specials that might have been by the door. I better slow down! :o

    :rotfl:

And I only get to HB once or twice a year, so no idea what goodies I may (or may not find).

    Looking forward to finding out!

Does anyone know if they still do Stardrops?

I find it really hard to get here in the South - Wilkos got me some on a special order, but could only get the normal one, none of the variations like the amonia one etc.

Yeah they still do Stardrops in various scents/grades.

I find them really good for basic cleaning products:
Washing soda is really cheap, like 50-60p/kg, as a water softener you can use a scoop in each wash and cut down on washing powder.

Their 'Clean and Fresh' dishwasher tablets at ~6p/each work well and lots cheaper than the branded ones.

They sell caustic soda granules for cleaning the drains really cheaply, 90p/bottle.

Slightly less practical, they had Kettle chips at really good prices last time I was in there and the Melba chocolate cookies are good.

They have some lovely marinades. I got one in a glass bottle for 39p and was bbq flavour but they have many more and they are delicious.
  • Breakfast cereals are pretty well priced too. A couple of weeks ago I got Special K Almond and nut for £1 a box so picked up a few boxes. None left yesterday needless to say!

    Things I regularly buy are
    Dog food (£6.99for 15kg)
    Tins of tomatoes ( 4 for £1)
Shampoo and conditioner (99p each for 250ml)
Straight to wok noodles ( £1 for 2 packs, each of which will serve 4 to 6)
Mould spray (99p and fantastic for getting shower grouting like new)
Sawdust and hay for the pets (49 p each, £1.99 in Tesco)

    Hope this helps
