@ Larac re MF
I've noticed that they've started emailing out when it is normal fee and no mileage. Yes, I've seen the job and I've decided not to do it.
Sometimes, mileage and an extra few quid will persuade me but not no more than the original.
IMO MF is aimed at hobby shoppers - who appreciate a free pint/meal here and there. It's the only MSC I was with until this year and I was a hobby shopper. Still, as a matter of principle, I wouldn't do a job for reimbursement only - you might get a meal, but there is work involved and work needs a fee.0 -
Who knew? Since when did it not become ok to drink irn bru while eating a gapburger? Was it just confusing the proofreaders?0
-
MF do amuse me - ring you me up today and ask me to do Euro Supermarket for no extra money - er no I don't think so.
Can't shift the outdoor shop jobs in my area which requires a large purchase and have added a paltry fee as a further incentive.
Opticians which hang for weeks/months - gods knows why the client bothers with them as there must be hundreds of these on their books. (Give them to Tern and they would shift them as they offer a decent fee)
Spam emails inviting me to have a pint on them for some pub miles away, whose fee would not cover the petrol.
I keep thinking the MF bubble is going to burst - but seemingly folks are happy to do their jobs.0 -
To be fair though, it takes less than 5 minutes to fill in the questionnaire for the Euro shop. If you are in the area already, it only requires an extra 5-10 minutes of your time. Or if you needed to do food shopping anyway, the fee and reimbursement is simply a money off voucher off your shop.
I appreciate that it is only a quick job, but in this instance they wanted me to do it that day/night and as I live around five miles from it, its not worth it (as many of their jobs are IMHO)0 -

Can you not use the web version on your iThingy?
Use Dropbox or Skydrive and it sends them automatically when you are connected to WiFi, means a quick coffee at a gyp burger and your photos are waiting for you.
I got enough POS to do 5 high yield visits that needed to be done now.
Graeme - I have been provided with a very small amount of POS - not nearly enough for all my visits. Are you finding that most locations are compliant regarding licences and age related stickers? I have been provided with 5 posters in total (to use on my 20 stores?!) I'm not sure how the best way to go about this is - have you had the same problem?:eek:0 -
I know I'm fairly new to this forum but I've never know a job cause so much discussion. Are these sort/scale of jobs a regular thing with that MSC?0

Thats the joy of merchandising jobs they seem to have their own set of problems. I dipped my toe into for a while and was not for me as they were never as simple as made out. Particularly bad in the run up to xmas when you are expected to poke around in very large warehouses looking for deliveries to put out, needle in haystack comes to mind.0 -
i've done a couple today. I find whatever I do I always seem to miss something even though I have read the brief carefully and printed the questions out. I am a bit of a hobby MS I think but tbh with the pay rates you wouldn't be able to be anything else.
Do you get better at it the more you do?0 -

Yes, it will become easier as you do repeat jobs - even if doing different jobs, you'll get used to each MSC's style and find it quicker to pick out the salient points and skip the 14 pages of waffle that some go for.
Even when I've done a job many times, I jot down bullets on my phone. I did it because I sometimes forgot a small thing - like an exterior photo on exit - or what's on the left and right.
Also, remembering the standard stuff becomes second nature. I can't walk into a shop now without clocking everyone's name, hair, height and sight!0 -
Thanks that's really helpful.
Do you think the client requests a MS in a particular place if there have been complaints there from the public?0
