How long for completion dates to be issued?

As i appreciate each and everyone's process is unique....
What time scales are we looking at for our property completion date to be issued?
We exchanged contracts/paid 10% deposit on Monday 5th August and the solicitors have requested a completion date from the developers on the same date.
Basically is it days/weeks we're talking about?
Thanks.

If it's newbuild, completion is "on notice" normally a week after it's finished. You need to see where the builder is upto with the actual construction.I am a mortgage broker. I am surprised a completion date was not agreed by all parties prior to exchange. You are now committed to buying a property where the developer is under no pressure to finish building and complete.0

Unless the property is actually finished, completion on a newbuild is always "on notice."Let_Us_See wrote: »I am surprised a completion date was not agreed by all parties prior to exchange. Not in my experience. Developers are imfamous for their "promises" and we have always insisted on an agreed deadline date. It amazing how it helps to focus their mind.0
