Quiet & Cheap hen do ideas

Options
Hello...
I have not long been to one of my friend's hen dos and she went to the Birdcage in Manchester to watch the dreamboys...what that night made me realise that there is not a chance I want the same kind of thing for mine!
Does anyone have any ideas for a quiet hen do, fairly cheap. There are going to be I'd say about 10 of us maximum.

Any ideas appreciated!

What about a spa day. We recently went to the Last Drop Village, Bolton for £50 per person, plus a small admin fee of a couple of pounds, for Bed, breakfast, evening meal and full use of their lovely spa facilities, treatments extra.

The place is lovely, if you haven't been, a Hotel in a quaint little village and the food is lovely too, although not too much by way of entertainment in the evening but with 10 of you I am sure you will make your own in the bar.

You buy a voucher off a website and then contact the Hotel with your voucher code to book.

My brother and sil2b have their Wedding booked there for June 2015 but I am sure we will be back before them to enjoy the facilities.

stay in a tipi? for example http://wolfpawtipivillage.co.uk/ we are off monday for a short family break. The cheap price (£80 for 2 nights as its per tipi not pp) initially swayed me but i think it sounds fun glamping. There seems to be lots about its googling and finding whats near enough to you really.

spa things sound excellent though i would ring ahead before buying vouchers to check a larger group can be accommodated ok. especially if some want treatments.

I'd second a spa day, thats what I did.

I would recommend SpaBreak Direct link as they are the only company I've found who deal nationally and don't take a deposit, each guest pays their own bill at the hotel/spa. I've used them around 6 or 7 times in the last 3 years and they are really good & have loads of offers.

Thanks again, a tipi sounds interesting I'll have a look in to that too. One of my work colleagues suggested a night at bingo, which sounds like fun.

What is your ideal budget? I organised my partners as her sister/maid of honour was too disorganised! She had a spa stay (one night) that I did on bookaspa it was £100 per person and included three course meal with wine, breakfast, use of all spa facilities and one 55 minute treatment. It was cheaper if you chose a package without a treatment, but then it was more expensive to book treatments individually.

I've not really thought about my ideal budget, I guess I was going to see what was on offer and then make my mind up from there. It's hard to judge, I've got to think of what other people can afford. I should be seeing my (only) bridesmaid this weekend at some point so I think I'll have a chat with her.

If you weren't too bothered about your hen do being during the day what about Champange Afternoon Tea? or something craft based like this http://www.heylittlecupcake.co.uk/henParties.html?

  • Some ideas here:

    Dinner/lunch at your favourite restaurant
Cocktails at a bar you like - maybe before dinner to beat the rush
    Cupcake decorating
    Pottery painting
    Vintage-style makeovers
    Afternoon tea
Crafty things - I know quite a few places in London do things like offering classes in making hair accessories/jewellery/embroidery etc so presume there'll be something similar in Manchester
    Spa day
Sleepover/girls' night in - so spa treatments at home, either buying those mini sachets of face/hair mask or wash-out hair dyes or making your own, painting each other's nails etc and then ordering pizza and watching cheesy films

Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")
